Pocket Porn

February 19, 2006

I saw Nightline on Friday Night and they had an interesting segment relating to our class. It was all about online porn on cell phones! Currently none of the major carriers( cingular, sprint, verizon) allow porn to be bought over their services. However, smaller carriers are jumping on board because they see the huge potential in this new technology. One of the big problems is that there is no way to regulate who is seeing the porn. It is a lot harder to track then internet sites. The government is already making a big stink about the whole thing before it is even mainstream! At the end of the segment they made a comment that tied everything back to our own class, because they said that the porn industry would be leading the way with this new technology.

To add my personal thoughts, is it REALLY important for people to be able to watch porn on their website? Do they get bored on the train commute and want to watch people have sex? Seems a little embarrassing to get all hot and bothered with people sitting all around you. If this is not the purpose, where else would it be appropriate to have porn on your phone? Hmmm. I’m all for porn but on your phone? Come onnn!

  1. […] I saw the exact same thing on television, pocket porn, which was titled by one of my class mates. I was wondering the same thing as well. Why the heck is pornography so imprtant to people and why is is effecting basicaly everyone? I just dont see why everyone wants a say in what people want to do. For the small businesses that have decided to focus on pornograpy, I think that this is a good idea. i feel this way because pornography is so big right now and if they invest in this then it would attract more customers. Why is this? This is because people have tended to become obsessed with porn and it seems to be a way of living for most people. So there is no doubt in my mind that this would be a hugh success.
